Isnt Stain a bad thing? Why do people WANT to stain their concrete?
Stain can be a bad thing when unintended, but a beautifully artistic finish when intentionally applied.
A stained concrete floor introduces color while maintaining the character of the concrete for a unique finish. Waterbase stains can provide a softed muted color, whereas acetone stains can impart a deep rich hue while maintaining the concrete’s variation and character.
Unlike a coating which is opaque, one can see the concrete details.

Will a concrete stain cover the imperfections on my floor now?
No
If the floor has stains, repaired cracks, patches or has ever been under a tile floor or carpet it will retain evidence of its past history which will be seen as variations in the stains acceptance. If these situations exist, you may be better off with an opaque coating such as MARBLELIFE’s ENDURACHIP or MARBILIZED coatings. If set on a stained, or polished-and-stained look, one can overcome this issue by first installing a microtopping overlayment to provide a fresh clean virgin concrete surface to which the stain can be applied and the surface polished as desired. More expensive, but when a stained appearance is what is sought on a floor with repairs or a history of different toppings this provides a suitable remedy.
