Sealers are applied to enhance stain resistance by filling in pores in the stone. Sealers can be either penetrating or topical.
Penetrating sealers such as MARBLELIFE® Stone Sealers are designed to soak into the pores. Topical sealers, on the other hand, are designed to seal and to modify the finish or color of the surface.
Sealing Marble or Granite Countertops
Countertops encounter more potentially staining liquids than almost any other surface (cooking grease being the most common). Unresinated countertops are especially susceptible to spill absorption and staining.
Resination is the process of reducing stone brittleness by filling capillaries and pores in the stone with a polyester resin. Unfortunately, this is not an easily identifiable feature, and the counter does not often provide indications of resination. The cost of sealing is substantially lower than the cost of replacing the counter if stained. Stone should be sealed every other year.
Wow!!!! The job done on my exotic granite island is absolutely incredible, the luster and beautiful shine that has been restored is indescribable. I recommend Marblelife without hesitation or reserve, the knowledge of the product from them was very comforting, thank you to Marblelife for making me feel that my granite is as beautiful as when I first had it put in 11 years ago!!!

New Stone or Tile Installations
Ceramic and Porcelain tile do NOT need to be sealed, BUT the grout does.
Grout is particularly porous. In fact, most new floors show signs of staining within 6-months of installation.
Grout is made from a colored Portland cement mixture. When the grout cures, water evaporates from the mixture, leaving behind a fine network of capillaries and pores. Dirt, debris, and spills use these capillary and porous pathways to stain your grout. Once absorbed, they can no longer be wiped away, leaving your grout discolored and dingy. Many \“Tile Cleaners\” are tile-safe but grout damaging. Once the seal has been damaged or removed, even mopping can transport solubilized particles and dirt from your tile into your absorbent grout lines.
The good news is that this problem can be reversed in a day. Sealing your grout is the easiest way to prevent such discoloration from occurring.
MARBLELIFE
® has developed a special sealant that can be applied to stained grout following appropriate cleaning and stain removal preparations. In fact, we can even change the grout color.
